Christ Renews His Parish

Our next Christ Renews weekends are:
Women's Weekend -- March 10 & 11, 2012
Men's Weekend -- March 17 & 18, 2012

Christ Renews His Parish (CRHP) is a program designed to help us renew our Christian faith by bringing members of the parish community together in Christ. It is a spiritual renewal program that provides parishioners the opportunity to share with one another the ways they have found meaning, hope, peace and love in their many times hectic lives. It is a process that enables us to develop a stronger bond with God and fellow parishioners. The process is personal, inspirational, and fulfilling. Many participants feel that the “weekend experience” was among the most powerful and positive experiences of their lives.

The renewal weekend is separately structured for men and woman.

The Renewal Weekend starts early Saturday and goes through Sunday afternoon. It is an opportunity to listen and discuss how Christians function in our modern world. It is also an opportunity for individual spiritual renewal through scripture, prayer, personal reflection and connection with others seeking His love. It provides those attending with an opportunity to experience deep personal conversion through prayer and reflection. This experience usually initiates a process of spiritual growth, Christian community building, fellowship and lay ministry formation. The weekend is an opportunity for you to develop a closer and deeper relationship with Christ.

WHEN AND WHERE DO THESE WEEKENDS TAKE PLACE?

St. Joseph's Parish hosts separate men’s and women’s retreat weekends at the parish. The activities take place in the community center and in the school.

2011 Retreat Schedule:
Women's Weekend -- March 19 & 20, 2011
Men's Weekend -- April 2 & 3, 2011

WHO CONDUCTS THE WEEKEND?
The renewal team is comprised of other parishioners who have previously attended a renewal weekend. This team strengthens their own renewal process by giving of themselves and presenting the weekend to a new group of invitees.

HOW LONG IS THE WEEKEND?
The weekend begins about 8:00 A.M. Saturday and concludes by 4:00 P.M. on Sunday.

WHO MAY ATTEND?
Any adult, 18 years of age and older and a member of St. Joseph's parish.

DO I NEED A PERSONAL INVITATION -- HOW DO I SIGN UP?
No. If you are interested, please contact the parish office at 419-893-4848 or parish.office@stjosephmaumee.org. The weekends fill up quickly so please don't wait to call because we want you to be a part of this special weekend.

WHAT ABOUT THE SACRAMENTS?
Mass will be celebrated Sunday morning and an opportunity for Reconciliation will be provided for anyone who desires this sacrament.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Casual and comfortable clothing is appropriate for both Saturday and Sunday. The entire weekend is informal (dress very comfortably). The key is to be relaxed. We do go to a parish mass on Sunday morning. Don't forget to bring your pajamas and toiletries.

WHERE WILL I SLEEP?
Sleeping accommodations are in the school classrooms. Air mattresses are provided -- you just need to bring your pillow, blankets, or a sleeping bag. Every effort will be made to accommodate special needs.

WHAT ABOUT MEALS?
Meals and snacks are provided by members of the parish. If you have a special diet, please let us know when you register so we will be able to provide for your needs. There will be opportunities during the weekend for regular breaks for coffee, soft drinks and snacks. You will find that you will eat extremely well.

HOW MUCH DOES THE WEEKEND COST?
The weekend experience is a gift from the parish community and is free to all who attend.

HOW CAN I BE CONTACTED IN AN EMERGENCY?
An emergency number will be given to you before the weekend which will be answered by one of the weekend team members. Cell phones, pagers and watches are discouraged since they distract from the retreat experience.

MISCELLANEOUS QUESTIONS:

I’m a private person.  Do I have to share my feelings?
No, you may participate to any extent you feel comfortable.

I attended a “CRHP” weekend years ago at another parish.  Can I attend?
Yes, you are encouraged to attend.  This is an opportunity to renew your spiritual
faith in Christ as well as bring you together with your parish community.  Those who
attended some time ago at St. Joseph’s or another parish are invited to attend again.

What if I don’t know anyone attending?
Even if you do not know anyone attending, by the end of the weekend you will have
made some genuine, caring, and devoted friends. New parishioners are especially invited and encouraged to attend.

What if I know nothing about the Bible?
There will be people who know a lot and some that know almost nothing.
Nevertheless, you will come out more interested in learning about the Bible.

I haven’t been to confession in years and I can’t remember anything about
religion class.  I’m not sure if I should attend.
Absolutely, there are no prerequisites for attending. The whole point of attending is to grow closer to Jesus and your fellow parishioners – no matter what your starting point is.

WHAT TO DO IF YOU HAVE MORE QUESTIONS?
If you would like more information call the parish office at 419-893-4848 or parish.office@stjosephmaumee.org. Feel free to call or e-mail any of the following parish members who have recently completed a men’s or women’s CRHP weekend and will be helping conduct the upcoming weekends. The parish office can provide this information for you.
